I have loved GuRL 6 hair since I hit the grid, but over time for some reason it stopped suiting my av…UNTIL I saw and HAD to have this hair. Once I changed the horizontal face from 2.400 to about 1.000 or so on several of the torus’ I finally had my GuRL 6 hair back–just slightly modded. So I am quite pleased with myself and will happily be running back to buy more. This style Undone2 was recently released, and is currently on the main floor dead center at GuRLywood.

I found plus NINE‘s Yugao Sweater Set, while wandering the grid. I LOVE this outfit. Haute Couture at a very reasonable..almost a steal price. The location I was at was small with a few offerings, there was this yummy outfit and another slight variation in a muted pink. Also on site businessy pieces for men and women, that were good design that I have to run back for. While just a small number of items were featured, I can’t wait for more.

This morning I was able to get my hands on these lovely Valentines Freebies from Adam N Eve. Gary can get his virtual butt over to Adam N Eve for his own pair of boxers, cause I like these so much I am not handing them over.

Whats going on over at Adam N Eve? Suddenly everything is tight, hot, shiny, and super sexy……I’m watching..and waiting to see what Sachi’s got up her prim sleeves.

A Woman Scorned

I simply can’t keep this under the rug any more.   I have to out this for what it is.   While I had heard things, I passed them off as the a latest on dit, but now I have confirmed it as truth, and I will tell you all how I came about it.

There I was shopping at the Creators Pavilion.  I spied several fine young men about town shopping as well.  Impeccably dressed, nice hair, and gasp…Payment Info On File.   Now, I worry daily about my dear Gary leaving me for..sniff…sniff..<tear>…WoW, so in a moment of weakness I thought I could charm one with my feminine wiles…keeping it on the back burner..just in case.

Only while approaching them, I walked into chat range into what was a war of words over which one of them was courting Miss Swirly Cyclone the best.  Yes, I said it, now we have all heard the rumors, and I have to say..it’s all true.  She’s got these dandy’s wrapped around her little perfectly polished prim nails.

Saint was there at the time too, she probably had the same idea as me, and unless she was afk at the time she can confirm the whole thing.   I was so upset I had to log off.

Sculpty Resources

Sculpty resources for you in order of degree of difficulty-by the time you get to Blender you will need an advil.

Rokuro–A fine beginning level sculptie maker,  I’ve used  this to make sculpties for cushions, pillows, columns, etc.

SculptyPaint–A friend told me about this, and I haven’t quite mastered it yet even though its quite simple-again though my use of sculpties is simple-cushions, pillows, etc

Blender-I just got into Blender and I can already see that I am going to have to read the instructions, there is no open and muck about even for making cushions, pillows, etc.

Music

I have lived in a number of homes, and some of which have come with pre-installed media devices, radios, and stream media (TV). Currently in Generation, my home came with a pre-installed group deeded tv…that I suck at running. But I will blog that another time. My first experience with radio in SL, was a pre-installed radio at my Loveland rental. I t was great, I could access a large number of preselected stations.

After I moved to another sim, and got to experience buying my own home, and media devices, and I went with Ligeia Westwick’s Jukebox, which I found to be handy as I was able to store my favorite stations on it, and control the stream via the Jukebox menu. The problem was finding the streams. I began to collect any stream I could get my hands on, and will freely admit I am a tard at figuring out how to get a stream off a site without using winamp. After moving to Generation, I had found a particular stream I loved and just put that in not bothering to deed the jukebox.

My boyfriend Gary is a music nut, with a wide taste in genres like me, so it became necessary to accommodate his musical tastes in addition to my more obsessive ones. So after awhile I began hunting for another media system, and Rooby Begonia was kind enough to tip me off to my current one.

My new Internet Radio is now deeded to my residential group and I get all kinds of goodies, like being able to search by genre, song, keyword. For instance I am a big fan of Radio Nigel, while I can add that as a preset, I haven’t, cause in my zest to get using it I forgot to change the script to make it one before it was deeded.

Mental note to self: Make up configuration card, and settings card in inventory, and complete before contacting estate manager to come undeed and then redeed.

Now say a friend tells me about Radio Nigel and I wanna check it out, I can search the web, find its blog, and without using winamp I am screwed on getting a url for the stream, but with this radio: /21 search Radio Nigel

Now I am given up to 50 search results for that in my chat display (50 being the default), I just /21 tune 1, and since Radio Nigel is always the result on that search for 1, I am now streaming that station.

I can search by genre, but find it boring outside of simple searches like Dance, Party, Hits, 80′s, Blues, etc. What is fun is doing searches on bands, and sub genres and niches, and pretty much anything like TripHop, NY, Abba, you never know what you are gonna get, but I still stand by my RL searches of playlists, and stations. It still nice to know that when I get inworld I can simply type /21 search Indie 103.1 and get it.

If you know your stream already: /21 (insert Stream)

You have a variety of custom settings you can set for it, like a preference of bandwidth, # of searches, presets, etc, but I stick by the defaults before tweaking.

Now the best part of this is…my radio is 1 prim! I went with the 1 prim black box which ran about $499 or so I forget. There is also a nice display of the stream, and song thats currently playing.

SL Specific Resources

Ok, some sites from Second Life residents with stuff you might need too.

One of the most well known ones is done by Natalia Zelmanov of Sirena Hair & Fashion, her Mermaid Diaries Blog. Here you will find newbie information, freebies, basic info like editing prim parts, tutorials for content creation and information on where to find tutorial tools inworld. Currently she has poseball scripts, looprez, etc available at her store for you, some things are free, some may require a fee.

Chip Midnight’s Fine Fashions-He has tweaking templates for making skin, and clothes in second life. A link to this site can also be found on the Mermaid Diaries Blog.

Robin Wood also has templates, and tutorials on her site.

ETD-Elikapeka Tiramisu of ETD, has a 4 part hair building tutorial from start to finish, including how she made her textures. It’s cool to compare and contrast this texture technique to the one listed on the Mermaid Diaries. Play around have fun.

Another Blog-Eloh Eliot of Another Shop, has made some of her skin templates available here for you to use in modding skins.

Second Wave Fashion-Miss Siouxie Legend has tutorials here, recently she posted one on making a satin texture.

So this morning I grab my coffee and do my quick 30 second commute to my second life and job, I’m late on a red eye blog post and need to do some pictures. I can’t find the item I need to photograph but I got this AMAZING Outfit!

First, I love pirates! Pirates were cool long before Pirates of the Carribean. I live in the Tampa Bay Area, we are buccaneers. I live just north of Captiva Island, where a pirate used to drop off people he’d kidnapped to wait for ransom, hence the name. So surrounded by all this everyday it rubs off an makes you a little crazy.

Here is the Neon Pirate Ensemble from Escapades:

A FULL ensemble and I mean FULL, she includes 41 items all together from several outfits, swords, hair, eyes, boots, and a wide variety of other accessories! Simply amazing, and I SO love my rapiers! So here I am out on my own private island, twerking them with my AnaLu pose. Treasure Chest available from CAS, at Voti, in the Pirate Party Package.

Chelsea Chandler’s shop is amazing, she makes party supplies and avatar ensembles, and as you can see-wow! She also has a number of other items in the store everything from sushi to Pirate speak version of Babbler. Chelsea’s Shop at Crab Meadow Beach, Crab Meadow Beach (166, 7, 22)

Argh, I am off to finish some pictures, and get a Cafe blog post out, and I think there is a cat around here somewhere that is scheduled for a neutering, BTW stay out of my way at the LC sale, I will be wearing my rapiers there-and I am not afraid to use them.

AnaLu- Ana Lutetia’s Poses

ZOMG!

So after photographing tons of my lingerie, and then Eloh skin mods, I found out something, I kept coming back to AnaLu poses. These are like freaking perfect for showcasing clothing and the body. They really call attention to the item being shown on a body. But then again, lol, of course Ana would make them that way wouldn’t she, and she certainly knows what shes doing. If you are seriously spending tons of time in your Photosphere, and have turned into a pose whore, you best pick up the collection they’re a great addition. Here ‘s a threesome I recently snapped, I will be showing off some more when I post on Photosphere, Skins, and other unpublished posts lurking about. I have been using them quite often and they have really become a staple. Alas, I didn’t keep track of the Pose numbers shown here so, get yer butt over to the store and find the-See Ana Lutetia’s profile for a TP.

Another Fundraiser

A wonderful new group has emerged on the grid, I am excited to be a part of. Another Fundraiser is working with Eloh Eliot of Another Shop to raise money for Unicef. Yes, thats THE Eloh Eliot who just made a series of skins the fashion world was agog over, full perms.

Ms. Eliot made these available inword at her store in Lippert, and the files are available on her website. Her intention was an experiment to see what content can come of doing such a wild and crazy thing. Overnight the skins turned up in a variety of places, as is expected. Many more began the process of actually exerting some effort to make the skins their own by actually doing some work in them.

Now its your turn to try your hand, and let the results bring some good to the real world. I know, your thinking there is NO WAY you can do this, lol, YES you can. Trust me! Get a load of my handiwork here.

As you can see here I’ve been playing in makeup, this was the first one I started on. Seriously, someone needs a brow waxing! This is Bert’s long lost cousin from Sesame Street. Here you can see how the skin is made up of three parts, face, upper body, and not shown-lower body. I never made the upper body and lower body for this face, so I slapped another upper body on so at least it would be a lighter shade then the noob dark tan which is the default, for photographing reasons. Here you can also see the importance of developing a skin tone palette. If that just sounded frightening-relax it takes two seconds to change it from Eloh’s skin tone to one of your own. Don’t get me started on eyebrows OMG.

Here is my Parrot prototype. I have made my own skin tone, eyebrows, base lip color, etc, played only the slightest with Eloh’s shading.

and last but not least I am sure you can do better then this next one:

This is what you get when your teen grider budding fashionista sees you playing with makeup in photoshop, pushed aside so she can create this. She accidentally left a layer of template on that made the black boxes around the eyes visible. She is so gonna scream when she finds out I have blogged this.

As you can see, this is a learning process. It’s a fun one too! Try it out, check out Eloh’s site, download the templates and start playing around. Then develop a planned attack on the creation of at least ONE skin. Then follow the instructions in the infomation kit and send it to us. You might just discover while playing around, and making some money for the very worthy Unicef, that you might have the makings of a skin designer in you.
