Today I’m wearing a cute mesh top I picked up from Nyu, called the Button Back Shirt appropriately. It features a long shirt, with cute fabric covered buttons that run down the back in the middle. I like that it’s long so I can double it as a tunic/dress, and even more because it comes in my favorite shade of green. I’m also wearing a cute mesh headpiece called Southern Comfort from Pididdle. It’s a lovely grouping of oversized lucky four leafed clovers. Even though it’s a St. Patrick’s Day Special, it’s cute enough to wear anytime, and would be adorable for a spring tea or garden party. My mesh footless tights are a recently new release from Maitreya. These have the look of cable knit, and are available in a wide range of colors. With purchase you get two versions, one being ‘pinched’, meaning pinched in the waist band area so you can layer them with shirts, or other clothing. So this makes it great for layering! Maitreya also just released their much awaited August Ankle Boot. We got a sneak peek at them when Maitreya released their prior collection, but they are available NOW! I’ve included swatches of all the colors they are available in. They’re a nice mesh ankle boot, with some colors featuring a patched leather look, and others in a solid leather. With purchase you get rigged and non rigged versions, a variety of sizes in the rigged version, and an extra set with red soles! LOGO is at Skin Fair 2013, and I’m trying out their mesh head called Sadie. The idea of prim body parts was slow to grow on me past prim feet in shoes, until I got my SLink mesh hands. Suddenly being able to have parts that were a big improvement over the default avatar shape was thrilling. Having a mesh head also is proving to be fun, and since I am quite lazy, nice to have all my parts like makeup, hair bases, eyes, and lashes all in one convenient HUD.
Sadie is available in 5 skin tones, Alabaster, Bloom, Almond, Amber, and Cocoa. I liked all the tones, and felt they were a good selection, and think the Sadie looks really adorable in the lighter tones like Alabaster and Bloom. I personally chose Almond for myself, as it’s close to other skin tones I wear. I like a medium tone, and found it worked well for me. With purchase you are given matching skins, and the head components, and well a layer body shading, a variety of layer nipple options and shapes. I found that the Sadie works alright with my shape. They include two types of heads based on body fat settings. If you are unsure which is right for you , you can easily go into edit appearance mode, and check your shape sliders. Mine are a 3, so I went with the 0 body fat head. There are also heads included with a single expression if you have a slow computer, and “legacy” eyes, and teeth if with want to wear your usual ones.
The HUD is really simple to use. There is the Expressions tab, which you can click to slide out a menu of framed faces, and numbered buttons. Each of the framed faces feature an eye and mouth expression. Click the eye area within the frame to get that eye expression, and click the mouth to get that moth. Pretty simple. Like both the eye and mouth within a particular frame? Click the nose, to get both. You can mix and match to get a wide variety of realistic expressions. The numbered buttons give you 15 eye movements, allowing you to look left or right, or even cross your eyes. There is a reset button as well to return to a ‘straight’ face.
There are tabs that slide out to reveal all the makeup options like Lipstick, Eyeshadow, Blush, and Lashes. Additionally you can chose Eyes, Brows, Nose Shading, and Hair Bases. When you purchase the head the HUD is preloaded with 16 lipsticks, and 16 glossy lipsticks for a total of 32. There are also 16 eye-shadows, 4 blushes, 5 nose shadings, 16 eyes, 6 brow colors, 7 eyelashes, and an option for none, and 42 hair bases!
I was impressed with the range within each, they could confidently serve my every need. Logo has tango appliers, and more eyes, eye-shadow, blush, and lipsticks add ons available for purchase separately. I was amazed at the total range when I loaded my add ons. I especially like the beautiful eyes that are available in the add on sets, to the point it was hard to pick which one I wanted to wear, and I know I will cycle through them all. Installing the add on sets is easier then loading an AO. Just rez your HUD on the floor, and drag the script for your skin tones sets into the contents tab, and you are done! No filling out note-cards, etc. You can access the new additions by click the left and right arrows for that particular tab.
The HUD when minimized is a nice long, thin discreet bar on your screen. I edited it to fit my full screen height-wise and moved it fully to my left screen. I recommend this, and also removing it when you are done making your selections/dressing, as if you build or edit often you may find yourself wondering why you aren’t going into edit on items or selecting them, because you are really selecting the alpha area of the HUD you can’t see. But removing HUD when you aren’t using them in smart in general to keep your script time down, and not lag you out.
I know sometimes having to read lengthy note-cards, or having this many parts, and options can sometimes be overwhelming and off-putting. But I seriously recommend reading the notecard carefully, and trying on all the options just so you get to know the parts. This will help you make the most of your purchase. I really liked the mesh head, I thought it was lovely, expressive, and truly had enough options I could feel comfortable in it. Grab a demo and try it out for yourself.
