Mark Your Calendars! Upcoming Event: Fashion For Life 2013
From noon March 9th 2013 to noon March 17th 2013, the biggest, boldest and most fabulous fashion event of the year will take place, helping to raise funds and awareness on behalf of the ‘American Cancer Society.’
FASHION FOR LIFE is an annual, charitable fashion event, that brings together hundreds of clothing designers, skin makers, hair creators, jewellers and accessory designers to produce a brilliant shopping experience for the whole Second Life ™ community.
Expect limited edition fashion items, Gachas and raffles this year plus non-stop entertainment, music and fashion shows produced by the top modelling agencies in-world. Its going to be a VERY stylish week!
This year’s inspiration for Fashion For Life is the ‘Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.’ There are 7 themed SIMs, and 2 entertainment/events SIMs:

Together For Sway – W. Winx & Flair – Carova Retreat
Designers across the grid have banded together to create items for the Together For Sway event. The event runs from today, December 15th through December 31st, and benefits a much appreciated designer, Sway Dench, in Second Life. Sway Dench is the avatar behind Sway’s, a cute store with an eclectic mix of homewares, bric a brac, and fashion – check out her cute rubber boots. Sway in real life has a benign brain tumor, and is under going surgery in about a month for it. Together for Sway was created to help her business stay afloat during her surgury and recovery, affording her the opportunity to relax and recooperate without the stress of worrying about her business for the next six months.
Together For Sway features items from over 80 stores, with 100% of the purchase price being donated to Sway Dench. There will be a number of music events accompanying the event, check the blog for details, updates, and additions. Many items have been already blogged, and vendor ads adding to the Together For Sway flickr group, take a sneak peak at them before heading over. If you are looking for more ways to help Sway, there are a variety of ways you can listed here.
W. Winx & Flair have collaborated to create the Carova Retreat for Together For Sway. It’s a tranquil spot for your garden or outdoor space where you can hang out with your friends. The design features mesh, 23 land impact, 5 custom sits, and click on/off candles. With the low land impact it makes it ideal for first land.
This item is available for purchase at the Together For Sway event. There is a full size display demo at the W. Winx mainstore just outside, including a landmark giver back to the event.

Bandana Day – Hair Fair 2012 LeLutka & SasyPants
Bandana Day is today at Hair Fair 2012! This day is set aside every year during Hair Fair 2012, to honor and show support. Second Life residents create unique one of a kind bandanas every year for this event, and they run the gamut from chic to cheeky. The bandanas are $50L, and are a 100% charity donation. Please remove your hair in support, and grab a fun bandana or more from the bandana booths located around each sim at Hair Fair 2012.
Today I am wearing three bandanas, firstly the very stylish Faith bandana from LeLutka. This features a turban like bandana with color print, and option scarf with fringe to elongate the look. In my other photos I am wearing two bandanas created by Sasy Scarborough of SasyPants, who also is responsible for Hair Fair 2012, as event coordinator, planner, the list of task and responsibilities is endless. These two bandanas are super cute, featuring little piggies as the theme, a girl and boy are both represented with top hat and bow, all fashionably done in knit! These three styles are keepers, and I can’t wait to wear my piggies as a knit cap as well this winter.

Hairoin released five hairstyles at Hair Fair 2012. Alien is a large updo featuring bone spine ornaments. Alkaline is a large pigtail style with long side bangs. Chronos is a very large hairstyle pulled back onto the top of the head mohawk style, featuring braids, and feathers. Gracie is a pretty updo, featuring a band with bow. Heather is another pigtail style featuring flexi whisps.
I’m wearing Ricielli‘s mesh Gorgeous dress in animal print with my SHI Lure leather jacket, also mesh. I’ve accessorized with Ganked‘s Goldblooded jewelry set, this set has glow, I have derendered it as an aesthetic. I like glow I wasn’t in the mood. I’m also wearing the couture version of Maitreya mesh leggings. They feature the couture version which has a build in heel-less shoe, and a non shoe version.

Ohmai released three hairstyles at Hair Fair 2012. Gillian is a lovely updo, with a low bun at the nape with whisps. Ginta is a pulled back shoulder length hairstyle with band. Myer is a ballerina style bun, included is a loose version, and tight version. Ohmai has created new textures for this particular style, featuring glitter! Ohmai‘s Hair Fair gift was as fanciful as Myer, Floating off to Slumberland is a netted ballon head attachment that includes layer netting to wear over your hair base.
I’m wearing star themed jewelry from Caroline’s and Candy Nail. The manicure from Candy Nail featured rings and bracelets. My top is from Mon Tissu and is an off shoulder dipped sweat shirt that seriously looks too cute to dress down, I paired it with my mesh Maitreya leggings and mesh booties.

Frou Frou – Hair Fair 2012
Frou Frou released 5 hair styles at Hair Fair 2012. Four updos are great for runway, editorial, and formal dress and an angled bob with a ribboned rolled hair piece. Frou Frou also has a gift hairband, that is the ribbon and rolls element that is on three of the styles, to mix in with your hair.
I’m wearing portions of an outfit called Tremolo Staff from Bare Rose. Not shown are the shoes, leg ribbons, shoes, and hair bow. The skirt is kinda genius, the top two layers are sculpted so it holds it’s form, the bottom ruffles are flexi prims with glow, it’s a great effect. This outfit also includes a white version with purchase. Tremolo Staff is a musical term and there are several other complimentary outfits with similar names in that theme, like Staccato, etc. My boots are mesh and from LeLutka, with rivet, lace, and heel color options via hud. My stockings are from !gO!, the pack included brown, and beige as well for a great price. They have really nice texturing, and feature prim bows around the top.

MINA – Hair Fair 2012
MINA released 3 hairstyles at Hair Fair 2012. MINA hair comes with hair shade hud with resizer. Daan a unisex short hair style that also comes with an additional hud for highlights. My larger photo shows the hair in a solid shade, and two highlight variations. Anouk is a loose long hair, that has a bit of a wave to it. I really liked how nice and full it was. Lente is a pulled back soft pony tail with tendrils on the side of the face. I love this shade I went with, technically its in the Brown range but its got a bit of red to it, all around a great shade. MINA has a gift hair at Hair Fair 2012, it’s Blanche a sassy angled bob, in a very light blonde. It’s easily tint-able, for those who like to tint, I was able to replicate one of my favorite shades of reddish brown easily.
I’m wearing a polka dot mesh halter top from Ribbon I picked up at the Okinawa Summer Festival, its available in a variety of prints from a damask to leopard. I liked the denim shade to it, and went casual wearing a mini mini skirt from Nyte’N'Day, and denim Pilar Wedges from YS&YS.

Vanity Hair released 4 hairstyles at Hair Fari 2012. Moondance is a long hair pulled up in the back, that’s sexy and hot! Jioni is a mesh style that consists of a very nicely textured hair base, of cornrolls, with the mesh attachment of dreads nicely arranged, into an elegant style. Playful is another updo, that is a very playful style, great height overall. Florette is is a short style with curls about the face, flirty and fun. I’m wearing a hot summer dress from Koyu, I picked up at the Okinawa Summer Festival. I love it, it’s so summer, and perfect vacation outfit. It’s available in a variety of colors, and prints. I’ve accessorized with Miel’s jewelry, a bangle from Fashionz! formerly known as Armidi, my Maicao bag from LeLutka, and IXkin shoes from Maitreya.

Logo released three lovely mesh hair styles at Hair Fair 2012. Shown here are Alessandra, a soft long hair style, with some nice height at the back, Lyla another pretty long hair style, and a soft braid called Michelle. I love this Caramel tone Logo has, and that fact they include 3 sizes to help get a perfect fit. I’m wearing a cute summer tank dress from Bonne Chance!, it’s mesh and comes in variety of faded shades, and even has an optional belt currently available at the Okinawa Summer Festival. It’s filled with a variety of Asian designers, with gatchas, lucky boards, and a few free items as well. Definitely worth a look! I accessorized a necklace from Mon Tissu, and their cute French Pouf in cream which I used color under cursor to custom match the bottom shades of my dress. I’m also wearing Indyra’s Suha Bead earrings in honeysuckle. My skin is another find from the Okinawa Summer Festival, from Banilacoco (I love this name) in tan. The face and makeup is youthful, dewy, and soft.

Amacci released five hair styles at Hair Fair 2012. The three womens hair styles consist of two updos Cassie, and Rosie, and the short style Celine that is soft , elegant, and reminds me of Emma Watson. The men’s styles Ethan and Pete I noticed work just as well on women, I’ve photographed them as unisex. Amacci also had a goodie bag that was packed with free items like hair bases, mens and womens poses, special hair fair edition eyes that have amazing reflections in them. I love Amacci‘s hair bases, and hunt through them often when I am needing a hair base to see if they match. Amacci has such a wide range of shades, you can always find one thats perfect. Because they sweep to the back of the head they are great with prim add ons like buns etc, which Amacci also has in her mainstore.

Bubbles Clawtooth released four long hair styles at Hair Fair 2012. I’ve been so busy for such a long time, I haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy some Clawtooth hair even though Bubbles is very active in releasing hairs. Shame on me, cause I love Clawtooth, and apparently I have really been missing out. So while I help organize and build Hair Fair, depriving myself in the process of hair, it makes it all worth it’s still exciting for me. The release included 2 long loose hairstyles, one featuring a lovely victory type curl/swoop, and 2 braids that were whispy about the face.

The Hair Fair Demo Group has always not only been a great way to see all the hair releases early – Hair Fair Demos are sent the day before Hair Fair starts – but also a fun way to try on styles from creators that may be new to you, with friends and family at home.
Not only can you compile a shopping list ahead of time, and be prepared to just shop at the event, it will also help with not having to rez each style in a busy environment, store to store.
Have a party, get your friends to vote on styles you love, play dress ups with your besties and convince your partners that trying on girl or boy hair is fun behind closed doors – don’t forget to make your snapshot silent while you take pics of them.
This event is a huge Charity Event for Wigs for Kids, and we want it to be as fun as possible for you, and we love hearing all the excitement leading up to the event, and Demos are a great way to do that. Culture Shock 2012 – June in Zuma Hills
Culture Shock 2012 has opened, and is jam-packed with 180+ stores! This event runs through May 26th, 2012. This is a Chic Management charity event benefiting Médecins Sans Frontières with stores donating 50%-100% of sales of a selected item. I’m wearing a mesh dress from Celoe, which is available at Culture Shock 2012. It’s a lovely mesh frock available in a number of fashionable trendy colors. I particularly like the silkiness of the fabric, and the lovely gathered bodice. I’m wearing Adam n Eve‘s Amaris skin, in natural with the provided small freckles optional layer. and SLink‘s Sarah hair in caramel, another mesh item. I have contrasted against the turquoise shade with accessories with warmer tones, like Zaara‘s Balini Necklace in Carnelian-Cyan, her Kashiti Bobble ring, and clutch purse from DeLa in Orange, Ison‘s color block pumps in a warm cognac, and Izzie’s latest release – Spring/Summer 2012 Classic Nails in Tangerine. Izzie’s is also participating in culture shock, check out her booth there, to see cute tri-color tops she has.
I am so over the moon with these nails, as I was having a problem finding just the right shade of nails to compliment and contrast with much of my newer purchases this season, so I approached Izzie Button to consider adding them. They are exactly what I was looking for! I’m completely excited about fashion this year do to the plentiful offerings by many designers featuring the 2012 Pantone color trends. Seriously I am in heaven, and never have been more excited to hit the stores, and get dressed. They have me happily wearing orange. I’m in shock.
My location photo was taken just outside the Zuma Hills prefab from Trompe Loeil available at Culture Shock 2012, This modern, open plan home is made of mesh, and features a lovely pool, many built in features like fireplaces, art, kitchen, lighting, and cypress outside the front entrance. Also shown in my photo are Trompe Loeil’s Zuma Hills barstools in the kitchen area, and couch, chairs, and plants in the living room area. I’ve used aDORKable poses for this pose, but not the specific ones they have available at Culture Shock, I plan on using these for another post, be sure to check out their booth there.

Hair Fair 2011 – Enigma
Enigma released three hairstyles at Hair Fair 2011, all of them long tresses! Shown here is Georgiana. This style features a beautifully done braid down the back. It’s stunning. This style comes with additional bangs, and a color change hud that allows you to easily change textures. Her other two styles are the same length, one featuring a hair ornament, and another that descends into softly done spiral curls. Whether your a damsel in a tower, a siren, or hanging out at the beach, this is the hair to wear. Grab the demos and check them out!!!!!!

Hair Fair 2011 is ongoing through July 15th. Featuring 4 sims full of designers who each are offering 3 to 5 new hairstyles with a portion of each style going towards Wigs For Kids. Women’s, men’s, casual, formal, fantasy styles you name it. Plus many designers have included a free gift in their stores. Don’t forget to check out the bandana booths on each sim! Bandana’s made by designers, content creators, and your fellow residents! Bandanas are $50L each, and 100% benefit the charity. Bandana Day is July 15th, the last day of the fair, the day we take off our hair, wear a bandana to show our support to those effected by hair loss because of illness.

Hair Fair 2011 – Hair Fair Photo Contest II !
It is time for our Second Hair Fair 2011 Photo Contest. When this years build was created, it was always the intention of the committee to make it as photogenic as possible. We invited aDORKable Poses to join us once again in this endeavour. This year they have exceeded our expectations, and the sims are really fun to be at.
Many have already taken such incredible pictures of the builds, we want to step that up into a mix of Hair Fairs latest releases, you and the pose oppurtunities available. This contest starts NOW and will end on the day after Hair Fair officially closes – which is the 16th of July at midnight.
The photo you enter must have you – or someone granting you permission to take their pic – in the photo with NEW Hair Fair 2011 hair on. Posed on one of the aDORKable poseballs set up at the fair, with the prop and/or fairground in the background. The hair must be recognisable as Hair Fair 2011 hair, and the pose must also be recognisable as one at the event. So be careful when cropping your pictures.
You will find all the rules on the flickr group page, but please please make sure you tag the photos and put the description in as asked. Failure to do so will void your entry, and that makes us cry.
