A-Line Girls

Sasy and I have created two cute looks with the new mesh A-Line skirts from DCNY and Damask Sweaters from The Secret Store. We went in different directions with colors, and accessories, creating unique, soft, cute looks. The Secret Store’s Damask Sweater is currently available at Collabor88, and DCNY’s A-Line Skirts are currently at My Attic. I went with the Salmon Toast colored sweater with the Poppy Blush skirt, I picked up the greens with the apple colored new shoes from Maitreya called Liaison. They’re located in the Maitreya Gold store at Maitreya, and are mesh. They feature short leg warmer options in a variety of colors, straps on/off. My hair is Mosch from Ploom, is mesh with color change headscarf. It’s also at the My Attic event. I’m wearing the Garden makeup of my new Meghan skin from Adam n Eve. It’s a soft, fresh look. Twilight Speeds

This has been my wintery outfit favorite this week.  It features a recent release from Erratic, the Vanity Leather Jacket in mesh.  This jacket is great! I love how the designer includes an open and closed version! Two great looks for the price of one!  The jacket is nicely textured, with attention to hems, and is available in a very wide range of colors.  My outfit features the open version in Dark Red, and I’ve layered it over League’s Thermal Dress in White.  I went with the wintery Red Norway knit print of the Wool Tights from d. Select. I’m currently obsessed with Scandinavian knits at the moment and this fit the bill. I’m wearing Maitreya’s Radical Boots in Snow, and mesh jewelry from Maxi Gossamer’s Valencia sets. My hair is a holiday gift from LeLutka & Celoe, called Vent.  It’s a pretty, mesh, long hairstyle, available in the naturals pack. Countdown @ My Attic

The W. Winx & Flair Countdown set is a fun, bright, addition to your home, or hangout spot. The theme for this session is ‘Countdown’ and the designers, and guest designers participating have created beautiful items based on what that theme means to them. Together For Sway – W. Winx & Flair – Carova Retreat

Designers across the grid have banded together to create items for the Together For Sway event.  The event runs from today, December 15th through December 31st, and benefits a much appreciated designer, Sway Dench, in Second Life.  Sway Dench is the avatar behind Sway’s, a cute store with an eclectic mix of homewares, bric a brac, and fashion – check out her cute rubber boots.  Sway in real life has a benign brain tumor, and is under going surgery in about a month for it.  Together for Sway was created to help her business stay afloat during her surgury and recovery, affording her the opportunity to relax and recooperate without the stress of worrying about her business for the next six months.

Together For Sway features items from over 80 stores, with 100% of the purchase price being donated to Sway Dench.  There will be a number of music events accompanying the event, check the blog for details, updates, and additions. Many items have been already blogged, and vendor ads adding to the Together For Sway flickr group, take a sneak peak at them before heading over.  If you are looking for more ways to help Sway, there are a variety of ways you can listed here.

W. Winx & Flair have collaborated to create the Carova Retreat for Together For Sway.  It’s a tranquil spot for your garden or outdoor space where you can hang out with your friends.   The design features mesh, 23 land impact, 5 custom sits, and click on/off candles.  With the low land impact it makes it ideal for first land.

I’ve been laid up in bed with a second cold this fall, which left me standing around in an outfit for days on days. Now that I’m feeling better, might as well start with blogging what I’ve got on, while re-setting up my settings on the new Firestorm viewer (4.3.1.31155) that came out on December 3rd. This release has the built in phototools that Paperwork (William Weaver) created.   I’m wearing new Nue hair from Ploom.  It’s mesh and I love how it’s pulled up on one side. I’m wearing Erratic’s Amy Silk Blouse, Celoe’s Snare Ankleboots, an envelope clutch from Emery, as well as their Allende skirt.  My skin is new, and from Amacci.  Amacci makes nice skins, great skin tones, makeups, shading, and attention to body details. Nuiko is a really pretty addition, and features a teeth option.  This skin’s teeth option is the first that I have really liked with my shape. It’s subtle, and appealing. It’s available in 13 makeups, and comes with the same lip colors on tattoo layer.  This is a skin I could wear for some time, I really like it. Iced Bokeh To Go

The With Love  hunt begins November 30th, with many grid favorite stores participating. The hunt will begin at 4pm slt, the starting location is at Cheeky Pea.  Here’s a sneak peek of the skin La Petite Mort will be offering for their hunt item.  This skin features a lovely pale blue/white bokeh effect near the eyes, and strong almost flushed from winter blush.  This skin was fun to style, check out what Sasy did with it!  Where I went light and bright, she brought out the blues, and added some depth. I’m wearing it with Chaisuki’s 47 lashes, and Izzie’s Double Wing Eyeliner for super drama.  I’m all dressed up for an event with my Shiver dress from LeLutka, and jewelry from Muse.  These items have been in my inventory for a while, and that makes them perfect for events.  Many people rush out to grab a dress for a formal event, only to find they are one of several wearing the same dress at the event.  I like to pick up dresses, and formal jewelry here and there, so when an event comes around I have many dresses that minimise the likelihood someone else will be wearing them.  Vintage items are great, vintage like my Muse Celestine Front jewelry.  Consider this while getting ready for your holiday events.  I’m wearing new hair from LeLutka, called Electra, a soft whispy braided style, with a matching hair base.  Have fun with the hunt, and check back here, for more hunt info as it updates.

Snare

I’m wearing a recent release from Ison, the mesh Geometric Dress in tan, it features two tone chevron-esque details at the shoulders and neckline. I accented this detail with chevron print leggings from League, from the Folklore Leggings set, called Ziggy. My hair is a release from earlier this month by Exile.  The Beyond The Waves mesh hairstyle features a seperate attachment of flowers to be worn with.  It’s a really pretty style, click here for the post on Exile’s website about it to see the flower option.  I’m wearing it in Rio from the Fusion pack for a toned fade. My clutch is the mesh Envelope Clutch from Mon Tissu, it features two attachment points, under the arm, and a hand attachment. It’s chic, and I love the trim detail. I’m also wearing a new item from Ohmai, a cute mesh bee ring I picked up at the Bees Through the Seasons event.

Today, Celoe released their Snare Ankleboot!  This mesh ankleboot is hot, put together with leather, in a wedge style, with wood heel simulating a traditional heel.  So amazing to look at, serious shoe porn.  I am in love with the leather straps that fit around the wood from the leather wedge, not to mention the zipper down the back of the shoe. The Song That Never Was

While out shopping with Sasy, I picked up a few cute items. We stopped by the Bees Through The Seasons event (click the link to check out the flickr group) , which was beautifully built by Beetlebones designer Suetabulous Yoot.  It’s an event run by Crystalny Resident, who I happened pick up this cute Studded Clutch from her BeeHive store on Marketplace.  I also picked up this messy half-do hair by Beetlebones.  I bought the caramel pack, which features to variations of color.  While out, I also picked up this Leather Pencil Skirt at Fanatik, I have to go back for more colors, such a classic item, with nice texturing. Earlier this week, I was able to stop by the Around the World Event, where I picked up this zebra print top from 22769 there. It’s mesh, nice texturing, I love all their offerings for the event, I felt they really nailed the theme.  I’m wearing my Maitreya Gold Suave shoes in Raven to accent the top, and jewelry by Celoe.

I’ve put together this outfit for hitting the stores with Sasy yesterday. Lelutka recently released this updo with hair band called Nook.  It features a color change menu for the hair band, giving you plenty of options. I’m also wearing a fairly new jacket from Celoe, the Maru Coat. It’s a nicely styled coat, with lovely details. I’m mixing it with a boatneck top from Whippet & Buck in red.  They’re having a sale currently and this only cost $50L! It’s all layer so great for layering with mesh! Collabor88 for November 2012 opened with a new themed collection called Painted Desert.  Brilliant theme, the color palate was refreshing and dead on for this theme.  From the collection I’m wearing Clawtooth’s I Never mesh hairstyle, Clawtooth released two hairs, this one is similar to the other, and features bangs/fringe. I’m also wearing jewelry from Collabor88 - Maxi Gossamer Jewelry’s Tarifa mesh necklace, and matching mesh earrings.  They have color change/resize via menu, just click the jewelry. It’s very lovely, very southwest.  I’m using these items to style with DCNY’s new mesh Boho Baby Dress.  It’s a cute dress in a variety of fun colored paisley patterns, from subtle buttercream to its a bohemian Christmas with Gingerbread.  The design is cute, featuring ties on the bodice and lovely trim. I’ve styled the cloud colored (cerulean) with matching cerulean shoes and purse from Maitreya.  Izzie’s recently released this new skin Geanna. Shown here in my favorite tone Sunkissed, you can see its a lovely, fresh, youthful look.  I’m wearing the nude rose lipstick, and silver eyeshadow.  Izzie’s skins features lipsticks, eye shadows, freckles, cleavage options, and are avialable in a variety of tones.

Faux Shadows – Quick & Dirty Tutorial

This is a very quick tutorial I have cobbled together for those using stock images who want enhance their photos.  My method isn’t perfect, many imperfections can be seen where I didn’t finish off this or that, but if it weren’t for a before and after shot, your eyes would probably accept the final image. More advanced photo editors will spot areas that needed to be cleaned up and adjusted more.  But this is a start in the right direction for you to play around with your photos more and what you might do.

I started out with a stock image I took earlier today on location.  I took a photo from another blog post of myself, prior to editing, and very, very roughly cut myself out.  Had I taken a specific shot for this tutorial and a blog post on it, I would have green screened, or taken more effort to emulate some of the tones of the lighting used in the stock image. But that’s not always neccessary, I just like to cut out the middle man as much as possible and do most of it inworld.  I made a copy of my stock image, and cut out the upper right hand corner’s leaves all the way to the tree itself.  I then removed much of the sky between the leaves as quickly as I could, and then enlarged it so it would take up my entire avatar.  I then made two copies, I played with the transparency, and multiplied them over my avatar.  I had to reduce the brightness of my avatar as it stuck out like a sore thumb, while to my eye I can tell the avatar was not part of the shot, I still need to keep it a bit brighter as I would be blogging the outfit, and it needs to be seen.  I could reduce the brightness much more to make it blend in and it becomes nearly a different photo. When doing this, keep in mind where your lighting is in your stock image and how it would effect your avatar when you take the avatar photo.  Try to mimic the same lighting in your studio.

Always keep in mind what you want to show.  Don’t be afraid to cut out, or use overlay’s creatively.  For stock images, you can always go out on location and take your own, or use stock images from the Second Life Stock Images flickr group.  I have also prepared another image using some overlays from Insight Designs to show some effects.  I used, if I recall correctly, at least 2 0r 3 overlays from Insight Designs, above.  Here’s a link to the earlier blog post for that image, done completely different with no overlays. I’m  really excited as this should be my first post on the Style Academy feed, check out their flickr group, for more yummy photos. Maitreya released the Milia Sweater Dress, and Suave Shoes this week.  This mesh dress is super comfortable looking, well textured, and fits nicely.  It’s available in 16 colors! It looks great on it’s own, or layered over jeans, sweats, leggings, and stockings.  The Suave shoes are super sexy, with many heel options, and a sock option as shown here. It’s available in the Maitreya Gold section of Maitreya.  I’ve added Maxi Gossamer Jewelry’s latest release – Santa Fe, new at FaMeshed.  This jewelry features menu driven texture change options on the disc, triangles, and cording.  My skin is a new release from Adam N Eve.  It’s Disa, in T4.  Disa comes in a variety of makeups, with blonde and red eyebow layers, cleavage enhancer, and de-enhancer, and dimples (worn). Celoe’s Mirage

Celoe will be doing a major release soon, I did a sneak peek yesterday of the Maruca Coat/Dress, and a link to Sasy’s post of the Maru coat. Today I’m giving you a sneak peek of Celoe’s Mirage Tunic, and Chardonnay Pants. I love the designs they used on the Mirage Tunic. It’s very vintage, and bohemian. I like that I can easily wear the tunic over the Chardonnay Pants, without resorting to wearing a large top and smaller bottom. The Mirage Tunic is available in 8 colors, and the Chardonnay Pants come in 5 colors. I’ve accessorized my look with Mandala’s Omochi Earrings, and Bracelet in Silver. I’ve also used my Rio Clutch from Osakki, which is dead on perfect for this outfit. Osakki is in process of reopening her store. My Ilaida Mojri shoes from Zaara, are a great addition, these pair are in black, they feature menu change quilted fabric tops, in 12 colors, and banding/shoe liner in Gold or Silver.

My makeup is blend of two eyeshadows that come with my Cassandra Skin from Izzie’s. You can create a variety of effects, and shades by layering eye makeups. Shown here are the base skin’s eyes, the blue and teal eyeshadows on their own, and then layered versions. The first being teal, then ‘add’ as an option instead of wearing, the blue. In my look, I created a near match to the teal on my tunic by first wearing/adding the blue eyeshadow, then I “added” the teal. Playing around in your makeups this way can really help you make the most of what’s there, and don’t forget to add in from other skins, or makeup sets. My last photo in the series shows the eyemakeup with LeLutka’s Liquid Liner in black added on top of them.

Celoe’s Maruca Coat/Dress

Celoe is releasing a collection of mesh clothes soon.  Shown here is the Maruca Coat/Dress in Blood, and the other colors in the photo below.  This is a SNEAK PEAK! This is a really well thought out trench dress, that can be worn either as a coat or dress hence the name.  There are extra components added to the skirt to achieve a really nice full look, and provide optimum coverage.  It’s a cute look, great for fall and winter. I like that the collar, and lapels are not so high that they could interfere with added accessories like necklaces, scarves, etc. I’ve accessorized my coat/dress with LeLutka’s Saffron Pumps, Orta’s Stella Clutch, and Yummy’s Jennifer’s Set. Recently Pididdle released this mesh ceramic flower headpiece at My Attic, but it’s now available at Pididdle’s mainstore.  It’s a cute addition, and can really make a look. The Maruca Coat/Dress is available in Blood, Blue, Dark, Gray, and Roast. Suave

Maitreya recently released quite a few items this week a collection of sweaters, sweater dresses, and cargo style sweat pants. I’m wearing the mesh Merlino Lux Sweater in Raven with my Maitreya mesh Anais skirt with bird print. The Anais skirt was a release earlier this year, and is also available in a cute polka dot print. I love this Amber color, and how well it works with the Maitreya mesh Leather Satchel in Mustard, check your inventory for this, it was a former FLF item earlier this year. Great color for fall.

I’m giving you a SNEAK PEEK at Maitreya Gold’s new mesh Suave shoes are sexy and a total treat this Halloween for me. They feature a socks option, and the very first pair to rez were this color! I liked them so much, I worked my whole outfit around this shade. The HUD is easy to use, and gives you several slide out menu areas. Skin & Nails to tint your feet to match, and polish your toes, Shoe Options features: Socks On/Off, and Recolor Options for Socks – 23 colors and Heels – 4 options. Extra Options includes a Kill Scripts option (make a copy first, then wear, then kill), TP to Mainstore, Visit Website, and a Help Button. Nevermore

The Secret Store and Nyu released the mesh Fall Babydoll Dress last week. I’ve been saving it for the right moment, and Halloween is my inspiration!  It’s a cute mesh dress will full sleeves, and cute lace collar.  I’ve paired it with Izzie’s Overknee Socks in white, with LeLutka’s Pow Pumps in black.  One of my favorite accessories in Second Life happens to be League’s Raven Necklace.  It’s gothic, yet cute with the ribbon ties at the back.  It features ribbon ties in cream, cadet, and black, with the metal work around the raven’s head in silver, and old silver. They’re all very subtle but  it makes a difference when you style an outfit. I added The Secret Store’s Girly Briefcase in black, Izzie’s Claw Nails, and am wearing Wasabi Pill’s Christy Hair, from The Costume Ball again. I’m wearing Ploom’s Harlowe skin in Milk.  This skin tone is so pretty, and the eye makeup is nice and heavy with flourish on the eyes. It’s available at the Zodiac event for the Scorpio session.  My picture features Lisp’s Asylum Raven Chair. This chair is chic texture with a raven, and features two ravens.  Very gothic, very chic.

Stargazer

Emery, Drift, and Ploom recently released new items.  Shown here is a new mesh skirt from Emery.  It’s availble in a variety of colors, and this is a great pattern to mix and match with.  I’ve mixed it with the mesh Cozy Boatneck Sweater in pumpkin from Drift.  It’s a cute sweater to dress up with accessories like my mesh Mery Gloves from Celoe, and the Adira Necklace from Zaara.  I’m wearing Ploom’s mesh hair for The Costume Ball called Sha.  It features an attached mask, which is color changeable via HUD from several preselected glittery textures , or you can wear it the version without mask. I’ve finished off my look with a mesh envelope clutch from Emery, and my mesh Radical Boots from Maitreya in rust.

Space For Free

Drift recently released this mesh dress called Mutiara.  It’s available in a vareity color sbut I really liked this mocha color specially with black accessories like my Geisha Leather Belt from Fishy Strawberry.  I almost went with a pair of black gloves but I can’t part with my mesh hands from SLink just yet.  I’m wearing the elegant set, which works beautifully with accessories like my clutch from DeLa, and my Kashiti Bobble Ring from Zaara.  I’m wearing a new hair from Wasabi Pills that’s currently available at The Costume Ball.  It’s a lovely sweet hair style, with ribbon, very Alice -like.  I’m wearing Amacci’s Hazel skin, this particular one has really pretty makeup, but I left my lips bare, as I love the base lip colors.

Unfinished Symphony

Wasabi Pills will be releaseing this beautiful mesh hairstyle at FaMESHed in Novemeber.  It’s features two versions, one of which is for larger chests, includes hair base, and HUD to change the color of the headband.  This is a sneak peek!  So don’t forget to visit FaMeshed, in November to demo it!  I love how perfectly this cinnabar red shade works with my Red Falling Skirt from SySy’s.  It’s a nice ankle length mesh skirt, with subtle patterns of leaves, and dots.  It’s striking against the colors of the new Maitreya Lux Sweater I’m wearing, this color/pattern is Alpaca Fruit Tree which I used an older purse from Armidi Gisaci/Fashionz! to pull the colors out with.  This mesh sweater has a nice knit, and I like the attention to the cuffs, hems, and the fullness of the sleeves.  I’m accessorizing with Miel’s Friendo bracelet and necklace which come with a HUD to change the text of the blocks, and features several pre programed color sets, this one is spice. I added Maxi Gosssamer’s Lealao earrings, and thought Tee*Fy’s ballet flats from the current session of  My Attic were perfect.  Tee*Fy’s mesh Oleander Pointed Flats come in a variety of colors, and are a cute addition to your wardrobe.  I love the color of the toe caps, and how they can really add a lot to a look.    Be sure to grabs some demos at My Attic!  SySy’s skirt, and Tee*fy’s flats will be available for $95L for the next two days at My Attic.  After that you will be able to find them in their mainstores. The skin I’m wearing is new from Amacci, this is Hazel in her lovely nutmeg tone. Amacci skins come in an assortment of makeup ready bases, and cleavage versions, with additional lipsticks/stains, eyebrows, and enhancers. It’s a lovely skin, and I went with the #08 Green skin, with the #5  lip tattoo.  I loved the base lip shade on this, but went with the additional color, many of the lip tattos had a lovely lightened effect on the lips as well.
