Spring Green

Spring is here, tons of new releases, today’s newness being that ETD is open again!  ETD is back with a new build, and two lovely new hairstyles, and a pair of boots, and all new hair textures.  I grabbed my goodies and went off to the studio to get ready to blog the hair, but liked my outfit so much I decided to blog that as well.

Spring Green
Spring Green

Again I am wearing LeLutka‘s Michelle Pant 2 that I just blogged in brown.  I wore the Michelle belt in seashell brown to offset the expanse of green so my shirt wouldn’t totally wash out color wise. I really love high waist skirts, pants, and shorts,if you couldn’t already tell, yes I am obsessing.  The Michelle Pant 2 is a wonderfully textures high waist short, what I love about them is while the high waist is on a jacket layer it comes with a prim to wear to give it added dimension, not to mention the two tone detail on the short itself.   This lovely spring green is a green that can go from spring and summer seasons to a bright punch of color in the fall and winter months too when paired with darker colors.

My April shoes from Insolence, that for some reason are called Gold, but are really this amazing spring green shade.  The geometric design on them is really interesting with the swirl of the side straps. They come in a number of colors, I especially liked the cream, and black too.  Keep in mind you need to demo, and decide if you like that the inner sole of the shoe in all colors is this green too.

Since I was already wearing the new hair from ETD, check to see if I had a handbag to match from ETD as well.  The Casual Pochette in Brown & Cream, was a perfect choice to keep the whole look of the outfit upscale casual dress.

ETD’s purses and totes all come with AO’s built in so you can wear them well.  I made copies of each purse, and took the animations from them, and added them to my ao, and made a special configuration card for each purse, using the specific animations, with my preferred walk, and sits.  It’s a nice trick when you can do it, but keep in mind, that many of your purses may not be mod, and even the animations might be no copy.  This is a problem i have come up against in personalizing my animation overrider.  Another obstacle is when you have two different purses, and different animations for each, but made by the same animator, and they all have the same name while different-and murphy’s law says they are no mod too so you can’t rename them.  I would like to know why a animator would choose to make a no mod animation when so many of us are moving them into furniture, and ao’s, it helps if we can rename them as even a longer name will present a problem.  I wish all animations were Copy/No Trans too, or they were offered with the option to purchase them this way in store, that goes for creators that make really fun couple and group poses too, I like to jack these into my pose stands too to use as single poses.

The Gisaci (Armidi) Buone Vacanze Blouse in Vecchio Crema was a nice tone to pair with the spring green and give it balance.  I love how you can take a shirt you would normally wear over other items as it has lovely prim shirt skirt and belt on its own to give it more wearable by wearing items over them.  This shirt is finished off so well, you can even go prim less with it and still not look like your missing part of it.  The sleeve prims are well done, and give nice shape to your shoulders.   The collar too adds extra dimension, and if you choose to go collarless, you can as the hems along the collar area are done well. Using the LeLutka Michelle belt to pull the shade of brown more into my outfit, I also chose Armidi Gisaci’s Healing Koi Bangles in Dandelion to finish off.  The work perfectly with my VG Republic Double Hoop Earrings color wise.

My skin is from Lazolli, a newish skin store on the grid.  They have a number of lines, and some great free skin gifts too.  Tp to the store, and check the bags/boxes on the shelves on either side of the stairs for the  free skin gifts, there are a number of them.  I am wearing the Phoebe 002 tan.  It’s one of the free ones, I really like the detail on the skins, these are really nice, you should go grab them, and some demos too.

This hairstyle is the one of the two new hairstyles at ETD, this is the Chel in copper. It’s a casual cute double plait, with head bands, lots of good layers all over to round it off well.  I was glad to see that ETD’s continuing to make Naturals packs.  If you haven’t noticed along with the usual hair shade groupings, she has offered a naturals pack that in the past has consisted of Black, Blonde, Chestnut, Copper, and White shades.  These are all in the Naturals 1, she also has a Naturals 2 pack.  I like that ETD does this, and which more stores did too.  While I usually wear a Copper/Ginger/Auburn tone, sometimes I wanna go blonde, or brunette, or have a very pale color for my drow skins.  The Naturals packs are great for this, and I find myself wearing her chestnuts a lot. Hair packaging is very interesting many designers choose to do offer one shade per purchase, or a pack of shades in a certain range.  Many do not see the need to expand on that further then perhaps a fat pack of all colors.  I like the think of ETD’s Naturals Packs as Blogger packs as they are invaluable that way–hint hint to hair designers.

Lelutka’s new collection is a fun assortment of stylish separates that will prove over time to be a great wardrobe addition.  What I like most about many of the items, is how well they can go from uber-chic to casual fun.  I needed a no fuss, yet put together look today while I did my errands and was pleased to see how well they work with other designers too.  One of my favorites of Lelutka’s new collection is the Michelle pant, which is available in shorts, or pants (separate purchase).  It’s a great high-waist look, and the textures are perfect, and the saddle brown is such a lush chocolate brown.   I paired it with another favorite from my wardrobe, the leopard print ah, bella! top from artilleri.   The prim sleeves balance the prim cuffs on the shorts to make a perfect combination.   I can’t wait to mix and match more of these shirts and shorts together.

To lighten up the ensemble I chose another item from Lelutka’s new line of handbags, the  Glen Top Handle Bag, a great wood handled bag with good shape, and texture.  I’m still crazy about bangles so I slipped on some of Zaara’s bangles in gold-so glad I got the fat pack.  I love my Drop Hoop Earrings from VG Republic, temporarily closed at the moment, but we are eagerly awaiting the day they open, with promised newness!  These are color change, and I love that about them.  Since I am running errands and many places to be I have worn a favorite watch the Classic Tank Watch in Caramel from Muse.  When CSI came to the grid, this was a feature on the kiosk of goodies at the Fashion Avenue sim (now closed).  You can find them for sale at Muse, and they come in a variety of colors, and choice of light or dark face.  Muse has just recently released some new jewelry which I can’t wait to blog about, but today it’s just the watch.  Armidi’s Vidalia Pumps were a perfect fit, I love the details, the textures, and the peek-a-boo toes, shown here in Gold Croc.

A Truth’s new releases of hair is to die for, I love his new textures particularly within the Ginger Collection.  I have worn all four shades, and feel Truth finally “understands” the redheads.  They are soft, rich tones, well highlighted, and never too brassy.  Shown here is Alicia in carrot.  Today I had to wear one of my Mojo skins.  I was catching up on some blogs and had found out I missed out on some St. Patrick’s Day deals at her store.  The Glitterati line is very well done, and can I say I love my bikini wax, I won’t share more details but you can check out the demos.

SL Clothing Fair 2009 Benefiting Relay for Life

I was able to check out Clothing Fair 2009, and was instantly delighted with what I found.  8 sims of designers showing off their wares, and one sim devoted to events, and 172 stores.  The sims are pirate themed, and many went to town on their decor, while others favored a more boutique look for their booths.  All in all, I was impressed with what was offered.

BareRoses RFL Clothing Fair Booth
BareRose's RFL Clothing Fair Booth

BareRose is a standout this year.  I fell in love with their booth, its quite striking in dark aged woods, and Japanese banners billowing in the wind.  With or without the other booths it was a stellar design.  They have included many of their recent releases, and plan on doing a new release everyday of the fair as well!   I can’t wait to see what they plan to release.

Saris RFL Clothing Fair Booth
Sari's RFL Clothing Fair Booth

I found a couple stores I hadn’t heard of yet,  Sari, and Foto Underground.  Conveniently they are located across from each other in The Aegean Sea.   Sari’s was brightly decorated, and very colorful just like their clothes.  Featuring many casual separates, that were reminiscent of Anthropoligie.   I will definitely be seeking them out for my late spring and summer ware.   I really have my eye on their colorful halters, and these funky tiered skirt pants.  Foto Underground is going to be a store to watch.  They featured casual tops and jeans, and I really liked the lines, and looks.   The jeans I wish I had grabbed a pair, but they appear well made.  I can’t wait to go back and check them out some more.

Another store I liked was Stellar Designs.   They had wedge platform shoes out, that are also on my must have for summer list.  Their clothing is always smexy, and fun.  Make sure you check them out.

An amazing shop called LittleGirl was da bomb.  Only way to say it.  I am so tempted to just tell you skip it and go to the main store, and before you hit the fair, but perhaps it wouldn’t be the same as coming across them there.  They make these adorable little dolls and pets for your shoulder, not your standard ones, but funky, cool, with a variety of themes, and props.  I wanted one of each and wish I could indulge but I am waiting for the fair to start, and also see what LeLutka does.  (ok I know about LeLutka, am waiting for them to open, Sunday psst between clothing fair and them opening, just go buy some Lindens, like now, and get a good price on them) LittleGirl also does clothes, but these are are more sexier then the name of the store implies.  These are for the big girls.   Their hair is cute too, and bonus they have a pack of demos there, and all of the demos in one box!  I really liked their halters, which came with two options, one halter, and then the halter distressed.

With a pirate theme, many of the items made for this event are pirate themed as far as I could see.  Many designers hadn’t set up their booths yet, or put out their releases.  Tuli’s was a standout as she did an entire avatar kit.  Seriously with all these outfits made for this event, there is NO excuse for people not to be prepared and appropriately dressed this year for International Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Men you haven’t been ignored either, many great offerings here.  I especially liked INDI Designs, with their men’s and women’s outfit for this event.  Also should mention that Blackwater has a cute dress for RFL that’s only $50L, and will be available after for $150L.  It appeared well made, and am kicking myself for not grabbing it right then and there.  Avid’s RFL outfits were show stopping.  Men you simply MUST see! Titled  Black Heart, its well designed, and lethal looking.  Very smexy.  Their women’s outfit named Pandora is truly sexy as well, check them out!

Rabbit Kiss by Japanese designer Jeter Jun, and many outfits I liked.  Their camo wear on the second floor of the booth looked good as did the Rabbit Panier Check dress very sexy dolly.  M.R.M. Factory was full of unisex clothing, very sporty, with quilted jackets and nice textures.  Cream Shop had their Madrid bags, and bangles out.  Easily could have spent the bank there too.

So points to remember are the following:

1. Buy Lindens before you go

2. De-prim before going over.  Lets be realistic her, its a Fair.  We have done this a million times.  Since its a tropical pirate theme, why not wear a cute bikini, and board shorts for the guys, and walk barefoot in the sand?   You know its going to be laggy, so there is no need to complain.  Many people do, and it’s kinda silly cause its fun when people do a themed event like this, it brings out the creative side all around.  So don’t complain about the extra prims, and lag, just come with less, and be prepared.

3. Make sure you check out all the designers.  Some new, some established, but all worth a looksee.

Silver & Grey Separates

Considering how much time we view, and appear grey in-world, one takes a liking to it after a time.  While I have always liked grey, the smokier the better, I have learned to appreciate the fine mid tones too, even light grey to white.   Greys can be sophisticated rather then blah, especially if you learn to layer and use the tones to your advantage, to ‘ground’ your outfit so you don’t wash out your skin, even as shown here against a lighter backdrop of aquas, whites, and pastels.

Mixed Separates
Mixed Separates

I have this lovely Emilia turtleneck sweater in white from DeLa, that’s been a nice addition to the wardrobe.   It pairs well with their grey skirts, and pants alike.  The sculpted sleeves on this really make for a nice top with great shape.  Gisaci (Armidi) Journey Tweed Slacks come in a variety of colors, are shown here in Grey, they also have a lovely silver. Armidi makes great pants, and these with their lovely prim pant legs with cuffs are made by Hudson Armidi aka Emma Gilmour of Sand Shack Surf Co.    So if you love these as much as I, you will have to also get over there and see what she has in her own personal store of casual wear, if you have snagged all the ones at Armidi.

I love how the Armidi-Gisaci Focsani Bag’s tones work with the tones of the pants, its a nice bag, and I have found it easy to mod its thickness too to make it more wearable on the shoulder too.  It doesn’t come with a shoulder version so you will have to copy, mod, and reattach yourself, but its worth the small fuss to have more opportunities to play with your look.

Another great way to play with your look are the PrimOptic glasses.  I’m wearing the Globe2.  These are scripted color change glasses, that allow you to change the lens, and frames to work with your clothing.  Very affordable, multipurpose too considering they come with Radar, Flight Enhancer, and Online Status Monitor built in, check them out on Xstreet.  A quick word about wearing gadgets.  If you already wear a tool that has flight assist in it, and its something you wear all the time, like a MystiTool, you may find that it will conflict.  So turn off your flight assists in glasses, shoes, or other items when you wear them.

My belt is from Cubic Effect, and is sculpty yumminess.  I liked it so much I bought the pack of them.  Modifiable so its easy to custom fit it, its one of the great belts on the grid that are low in prim, or prims near the sides and back so you can easily fit it. <might wanna grab some coffee while I rant here a moment> There is nothing worse then trying to do this via resize scripts too.  I hate that.  I like to mod ‘old skool’ style, cause I got mad skillz.  Seriously folks, hand modding is becoming a lost art.  One day those of us that CAN are not gonna help you in protest of all the resize scripts out there.  They are ok for a few things but keep them out of hair, belts, and other items.  Learn to do it yourself.  I don’t care if you can delete the scripts or not, why bother, when you can learn to mod, and get basic building skills along the way that will enhance your Second Life.  I mean come on, you learned some basic skills growing up in RL, Second Life isn’t much different.  <end rant>  I love these belts so much, I just wish Cubic Effect did Copy/No Trans perms, instead of No Copy/Trans.  Ooh, or the option of either at purchase.

Bax’s Ankle Boots here in black patent are another great wardrobe addition to own.  Bax’s come scripted with resize (not a bad resize script in it either), walk that’s also easily disabled, and options to change the top of your boot adding lace etc.  I love the heel on these, and they look great worn with pants,  just wear the foot, and base, but not the leg attachment if you want to wear them with prim pant legs.

ICoN was a fun find,  I wandered into their outlet at Emery while shopping and was stunned.  I snagged most of their jewelry, and here I am wearing Necklace.  I know a bit of a plain title for it, but there ya go.  It comes with both Gold and Silver in the same purchase so its really a nice deal. I found it needed no modding at all, which is nice when you have this many prims.  /me puts fingers in ears to cover up people say this is why resize scripts are so nice.    I can’t hear you , and yeah I would still attempt to mod by hand. 😛  Check out this necklace on Xstreet, and the designer, junko otsuka’s store ICoN on Xstreet here.  You’ll fall in love, I swear!

I am wearing one of Truth’s latest hair releases the Amber in Auburn.  It’s a lovely windswept/feathered look.  Truth’s color packs come in several shades per pack, and his Ginger pack is too die for, the Auburn and Pumpkin are my favs.  I am also wearing a lovely skin I picked out at Belleza.  I love their Belle line they are soft not overly harsh, and well done.  Shown here in Smoky Mocha make-up.  Belleza’s Belle comes with two styles of bikini wax, and I love having an option.

Anti-Bully
Anti-Bully

Children are taught to not bully.  When does it become acceptable, and justifiable for adults to bully?  So since people lately behave like little children bullying others about their designs, their blog posts, their photos, perhaps we need to re-educate them, and challenge them to grow up, and be responsible, proactive citizens.

No Bully says:

Bullying is when someone keeps doing or saying things to have power over another person.
Some of the ways they bully other people are by: calling them names, saying or writing nasty things about them, leaving them out of activities, not talking to them, threatening them, making them feel uncomfortable or scared, taking or damaging their things, hitting or kicking them, or making them do things they don’t want to do…

They may see it as a way of being popular, or making themselves look tough and in charge.
Some bullies do it to get attention or things, or to make other people afraid of them…

What can you do if you see someone else being bullied? If you see someone else being bullied you should always try to stop it. If you do nothing, you’re saying that bullying is okay with you.
It’s always best to treat others the way you would like to be treated.
