Autumn Masquerade

So Sasy invited me to tag along to a masquerade ball being held by The Fashion Loft. I’ve not been to a formal event in years. #platformdwelling So, there was some shopping to do. I decided it’s October, autumn, there was a high chance of many attending would go with a gothic or Halloween theme, in additional to very formal and elaborate. I’m pleased to say I calculated correctly. A few were horror/gothic, most were black or red gowns.

I went with Autumn as my theme and wanted to keep it very simple. I found this great mask first, a gacha from HEXtraordinary, and went from there for aesthetic. I knew it might be a challenge to find a good fit color wise, then I recalled the immense number of gowns from my past social life I collected long ago that hadn’t even been worn yet and with BOM now in effect I had many options. So glad Slink has come out with the Slink Physique Hourglass Mesh Body Bundle (Redux)! Very pleased that I can wear some fantastic system skins I have like the Isla skin by League.

I haven’t been a huge fan of mesh gowns as I don’t care for the movement waist down due to rigging, so I deep dived for some flexi. I revisited my Last Call, and Nicky Ree stash. However, nothing matched the tones of my mask I had already selected and was determined to use.

A quick review of Marketplace turned up this lovely autumn gown by Caverna Obscura. It’s available in a few autumn gradients, and I went with brown in case there was someone else with the same idea, they would likely go with the “Pumpkin” option which was more vibrant. The dress did not come with any alphas, so I found an alpha from a slip dress that worked.

The mask and dress were a great match. I tinted some gold opera gloves (system layer) from Adam n Eve to match the bodice. I eschewed jewelry and went with some particle sparkles in gold and green from Cole’s Corner which are currently available at Uber. Since I haven’t actually shopped in a while for formal wear or even purposely chosen an updo for such purposes I went with a half up half down style from Kuni. It was pulling out older content and I was pleased with how well much of it held up since mesh. Looking forward to hopefully wearing some in the near future.

Pink Elephants On Parade

So when I was a kid, I was obsessed with Dumbo. My parents bought me the sound track on record. Yes, vinyl. I played it over and over, skipping Baby Mine (still makes me cry).  It was then I fell in love with elephants, and more especially pink elephants. Do you know how hard it is to find a pink elephant. This vexed my parents to no end, as it was a frequent request from me. Later on when I was in my teens, and doing community theater, I was in the dressing room with everyone getting ready before opening. The steady stream of flowers came in for everyone as their parents arrived and house crew delivered them. I continued getting ready as the stares and whispering began, ignoring it, and then finally having to comment to everyone, yes there were no flowers being sent to me, nor was I expecting them.

I knew my parents wouldn’t as I thought at the time flowers were a waste if they weren’t your favorites so I was not expecting any, as lilacs were out of season, and I would expect my mother to hand cut them if they were available. At best I would receive a card. People exchanged looks, I just rolled my eyes, and finished getting ready.  Then the door opened and a crew member came in carrying a giant stuffed pink elephant, I saw from the mirror and started grinning. My parents had finally found one, then I panicked. What if someone else here also liked pink elephants, seriously my heart lurched at the thought it wasn’t mine. But it was. The girls began to comment, questioning what it was, and how they didn’t like it, etc. I didn’t care, it was a gift that my parents and put a lot of effort into hunting down instead of picking up flowers at the local store. I’ve collected elephants ever since, and still find pink elephants the hardest to find. I can find them easily on the internet now, but that takes the special out of it in some way, so I purchase them when I come across them only in real life. Finding the pink elephants from Geek made my heart sing when I was Cirque de Seraphim, and I also picked up the cutest elephant with pink balloon from Mango Cheeks. They’re mod, and I have made them larger for props. The Geek elephants are for wearing as I am in the photo, and the Mango Cheeks elephants are decor.  Now I can fill my little studio up with pink elephants and damn the critics. I am happy.

Adam n Eve – Charli

Adam n Eve just released a new skin called Charli. Charli has appliers for Slink’s Physique mesh body, and Slink’s Visage line of mesh heads which currently are Becky and Emma. The skin applier HUD is universal so if you’re wearing Slink’s mesh hands and feet it will automatically with those and your body. I’m wearing Tone C, and as usual for Adam n Eve the cleavage and bottom are stellar.

Charli features a variety of enhancements; Freckles (which I love to death), Moles, Blush, and Glow. Overall Charli is a lovely skin, there are 3 cleavage options; Regular, Cleavage (which is really wowsa or what I like to call…”you”ll never remember the freckles on my nose”), and Dehance which has no suggestion of cleavage. The options give it a lot of universal appeal across the board.

Charli includes a red, blonde, and dark hair base, and a no hair base option. Charli has seven eye-shadows, and lipsticks, I’ve only shown 6 of them, I really wanted to show off the base shadow and lip color, which I really like. They are mix and match, they feature some lovely autumn tones, some pastels, and smokey grey, and brown, with a selection of various lip sticks.

Here is a look at what Charli looks like on both of the Slink Visage heads Becky and Emma. I really like the younger and older sister look to them, they are pretty consistent, and you can really see how each work with the heads. I really liked that just by switching up my makeups and hair I can even enhance each one for a variety of looks, and styles.

I’m also wearing LeLutka’s Canto hair in a variety of tones for this to show off the hair bases. Also I wore my Mon Cheri Falsie’s which are my favorite thing at the moment. They’re mesh, and include an upper and lower. I wear the upper mainly, and modded it to fit my head. It includes a HUD that allows you to switch between 3 styles of lashes, and you can choose color ranges within each for Natural, Glitter, Dipped, and Solid. The Solid has a white which is also for using to tint to your heart’s content. I love these so much that I sent a bunch to my friends for a Halloween treat…or trick if you hate modding to fit (tee hee).

I’m wearing the shorts from Flair’s new Kelly Shorts/Cami Set. They’re appliers for your Slink Physique mesh body. Flair made several color sets Pastel (worn), Mono, Earth, and Base. They feature a cute cami top to match. Fun and sporty, perfect for lounging around the house in, or running around the grid to make it easy to throw on demos at stores over. I’m also wearing the Tampa (holler!) from Essenz in white,  made for the Slink Avatar Enhancement Flat Feet. My top is Baiastice’s Luli Bikini in Onde pattern. I love how well it fits to my Slink Physique body. I wore the small, and if you are wondering my hands are x-small, and my feet are small. I usually like to layer clothes and will run a x small-medium in sizes on my body. Occasionally I will wear an xx-small when layering and usually on bottom. You’re welcome. I think this is the most I have said on my blog all year. yikes, and I’ve probably forgotten a million things.

Today is the last day of My Attic, the last day to shop at the limited time price of $95L, afterwards all the items can be found in the stores main stores for full price..  From My Attic, I’m wearing Ploom’s Lynette hairstyle, that features additional bows you can wear with it, all in polka-dots. I’m also wearing La Primitif’s Ono Glasses in tortoise.  These glasses are so cute, they also come in sunglass style tinted glass, and handheld! Also at My Attic is DCNY’s cute Velveteen Dress, that is a rich color, with this rich reversed ironed in damask print. It features white lace cuffs, and collar.

I’ve styled all these with my Sadie mesh head from Logo, and Slink’s Avatar Enhancement Hands in casual.  My tote is from Indyra Originals, the Sweet Travels Tote in mesh. I’m wearing League’s Vintage Clock Necklace, and Lassitude & Ennui’s Jolenta Boots in Gold Brown.

I was recently organizing my applier and body enhancements folders, and was able to get everything really nicely organized.  It’s so much easier now to access all the mesh parts I have and would like to wear more.  One of which is Logo’s Sadie mesh head. I did a post here, on all the details if you are curious about mesh heads, and what Sadie has to offer. I’m wearing Sadie in almond, and Logo now has appliers, so if you are looking to match their skins from their mesh heads to your other mesh parts, they’ve got Phat Asses, Tango, and Slink appliers.    I’ve been having fun with all my glove appliers lately for my Slink hands.  Today, I’m wearing the Adam n Eve’s Leather Gloves in brown, to match my Xui Trousers from Celoe.  Adam n Eve has quite a few glove appliers if you are looking for gloves, but still want to wear your hands, they’re a nice way to complete your outfit.

I’ve got a few new things on, Wasabi Pills Emily hair which is currently available at Fameshed. It’s a cute curled style, with bow on the side.  My shirt is from The Secret Store, and its a cute short sleeve pleated blouse, it’s available in a variety of colors, and features tucked and untucked versions. Great for mixing and matching. The Mary pleated shirt is available at Collabor88 for January.  My shoes are also new, from Slink, the Ilse Heels, made for the High feet from Slink.  They’re cute, with a funky heel, and I love the multiple straps.  My accessories are Miel’s Troupe Watch in natural, and Maxi Gossamer Jewelry’s Patience Heart Watch Pendant necklace, and Le Poppycock’s Elegy Hatbox.  The straw hat I am holding, I detached from my Frou Frou Picnic hair, to finish my look.

The Garden

Collabor88 just opened and their theme for this round is Raw Nostalgia. It’s a very sophisticated palette of colors in muted, soft tones of pink, ecru, and various shades of taupe. Maitreya released the Vintage Lace Gown, in a variety of soft tones, and a black.  The dress comes with a few options. The main component of the dress is Part 1, a solid color slightly ruched ankle length sleeveless sheath dress which can be worn on it’s own.  Even alone it’s beautiful, form fitting, and well done. Included is Part 2 and Part 2 Longer, this is a sheer lace sleeveless overlay that features a sexy hip high slit on one side, and the difference between the two Part 2’s is one is just a tad longer than the other.  You pick the length you like, and can change the look of the sheath by wearing it over if you like.

All parts of the dress come in the same color, however I’ve styled it here with the sheath (Part 1) in the Romantic colored dress, with the Lace Overlay (Part 2) from the Raven colored dress, for a completely unique look.  The dress is available in six colors. Also from Maitreya at Collabor88 is a mesh collar, and pearl necklace.  I’m wearing the mesh collar in Black.

I’ve styled this look with much of what I last wore in a classic choice of opera length gloves, and peep toe heels.  My Opera Gloves are by Adam n Eve, and are a glove layer, and skin applier with glove texture for my Avatar Enhancement Hands from Slink.  So easy to wear, just throw on the glove layer, turn off your nails, and enable tattoo layer using the Slink Utilities HUD. Wear the Adam n Eve applier hud to pick the color of the hand’s glove. My Glitter Peeptoe shoes are from Slink, and made to be worn with their Avatar Enhancement Feet in medium. I’ve got the fatpack which features a HUD that lets me select the color of the shoe, and bow giving me tons of options for customizing by look. I’ve used Tuli’s skin appliers on my feet to match my skin, and Fishy Strawberry’s Bon Ton nail polish appliers on my toes.

My hair is Demeter from LeLutka, a soft pulled back style featuring a color change hair ribbon band and a rose you can color change and toggle off. I’m wearing it in the Soysauce hair color, my favorite of all of LeLutka’s color, but it’s a treat to wear it now as I usually grab the naturals pack if I don’t grab the fatpack.  My earrings are an older favorite of mine as well from Muse Fine Jewelry, all prim, very delicate, they’re silver and black. No longer available inworld.

Huzzah, today is my Rez Day, I’m 7! Instead of regaling you with ‘oldbie’ stories, I’ve got a style post.  I wore this outfit recently to a winter formal, but had planned it in a different color when I was considering throwing myself a little party for my rez day.  I have to work so no party for me this year, which I can always make up for on my RL birthday.   My location for my party was to be a little Jazz/Blue’s club. Which always makes me think about one of my favorite writers Haruki Murakami. He’s an internationally translated and celebrated Japanese author of contemporary fiction. He always gives me something to think about, and I love how much music makes its ways into his novels. Since the place I was thinking of celebrating in, reminded me of him, I’ve titled my post Norwegian Wood for the title of one of his books (you should check out the movie) which mentions Norwegian Wood by The Beatles, listen here.  Not going to say anything more than that, it’s more of a style post, read the credits, there’s a few new items here, and maybe something new to you.
